AngelRock Baby is the Lovechild of AngelRock Jewellers, the names comes from the first names of hubby and I, so it made sense to name our newer business in a way that honours the way it was born into being.  Through our journey as parents we discovered that there are choices that we make every day that may enhance or detract from the experience of family connection.  We have chosen to share with you the things we have enjoyed ourselves.  AngelRock Baby is our own brand – it has been created by my husband and I with our three beloved children.

From the Babywearing brands we love from carrying our own children, to the jewellery we handmake from locally grown Applewood, and many other products we enjoy making for you, or have sourced from our favourite companies, we have filled a little shop here for you. If you like to shop at markets you can find AngelRock Baby in NSW, based on the Central Coast but frequently visiting Sydney and other areas. If you like to ask lots of questions before you feel comfortable that you have chosen your favourite thing – find me on facebook and I will happily chat with you any time I can.
Our own Babywearing journey continues, but for many of our friends and clients it is just beginning, so the information we include in our products and our website is designed to help a beginner. More advanced help can be given as required.
My first Babywearing experience was a long time before my own children were born.  One of my younger sisters birthed an exquisite baby into our family, a lovely girl who was born only months after Peter and I were married, and in watching my sister mother her gorgeous baby we looked forward to having our own children.  One of my favourite memories of those early baby days was a morning I spent with my sister at Manly markets.  I borrowed my sister’s sling and carried my niece around, in the cradle hold, using a pouch-style sling.  It was a wonderful feeling of closeness and I felt so special to have a ‘together’ moment just between my niece and I.

In the ten years since that weekend I have had my own 3 children, (and 3 more nieces) all of whom have been worn and adored.  My journey as a parent lead me to discover, after the birth of my third child, that I am (and always have been) a ‘Babywearer’.  It is a great joy for me to introduce new families to the world of “Cuddles on Legs”, and it has also been confronting for me to realise as I have learned more along the way, that there are certain styles of baby slings and carriers that pose risks to babies.  I would not carry a young baby in a pouch style sling now.  Although my experience was a positive one there are other families who have discovered the risks inherent in the way some slings are designed and used.  Please read my page regarding Safe Babywearing for more information.

As I intended when I began to stock woven wraps, ringslings and hipseats, my knowledge and experience have deepened and brought me into a community that thrives on the very precious Love between parent and child, the sweet friendship between supportive friends and the beautiful wisdom from ancient times that older women still pass on to younger girls.
Teaching, listening, learning, encouraging and nurturing – these rituals are a wonderful way to share our gifts with one another. I am lucky to have been trained as a Babywearing Consultant, by Ulrike Hower, Die Trageschule, and by the group of people who organised the first Australian Babywearing Conference in 2013, now known as Babywearing Education Australia. I am honoured when a new parent trusts me to help them begin their own Babywearing journey. I am blessed with three gorgeous children who I continue to enjoy carrying (well the eldest one only goes up for short moments now). I am delighted to have made some truly special friendships within the Babywearing community, I have learned much from you and I enjoy travelling in company!
Something very close to my own heart is the safety and well being of our precious babies, and this is behind my grass roots campaign to boost awareness of why and how accidents can happen, I am determined to be part of the movement that stops the sale, advertisement and use of the types of slings and carriers that have cost some parents the lives of their babies. When we know better, we do better – lets talk loudly about what we know is the BEST and SAFEST practice for babywearing.
Another passion of mine is inclusion – whether a baby, child or adult has a special need, a medical condition or a disability – Babywearing can be a wonderful way of life. For a person who faces restrictions in other parts of their life to discover that there are ways to carry their own baby is empowering. For some people, healing from past experiences has come while wearing their exquisite new child. During 2014 I will be broadening my reach to help more people in this way – on June 18th I will be inviting you to a talk in Woy Woy “From Birth to Babywearing – Special Needs”.

You can also find out about my market locations and dates by checking the Events Calendar, or arrange for my mobile market to come to your mother’s group, playgroup, Blessingway or baby shower.

Thank you for your support, since February 2013, we look forward to growing together with you and your precious family as each of our journeys continue.
Thanks Sputniks,
this is a journey I am enjoying every step of!
